7 years later... and it's just the beginning.

In 2006 I founded Peekaboo Beans on the premise that all kids should play.  Play is the foundation for success in children.  So why not dress them for success in clothing that supports what they do best - play!

Fast forward 7 years and what a journey we are on.  Our loyal Beanaholics, the loving beans around the land, the stories, the moments shared of a Bean dressing themselves with pride!

The friends, the co-workers, the family I have made are momentous and literally life changing.  We could not do what we do, without you - our loyal VIPB's!

In 2006 I sat at a computer and literally created a website on power point (I think that is what it was). And when I say that to people who know me, laughs ensue - knowing my computer and graphic capabilities. But hey, you do what you have to do.

A good friend (who happens to be a graphic designer) and loyal devoted supporter of PB said to me one day - let me do this.  You need help.  Clearly I did. A new site was built and was buckets of beans better than what I had done.  That site evolved over the years.  It was pretty, but clunky.  But our fans prevailed and supported us a young company, just trying to spread the love of play. This week we did a face lift.  7 years later, a fresh look.  Clean.  Simple and important.  Let kids Play.

I hope you enjoy looking at our new fresh face.  Thank you to those who have seen the journey. This is our soft launch - as we look to continually improve and update, please come back and check out enhanced pages that are currently under construction.  Just remember - seven years later and this is only the beginning.

In love and play,

Free Beans for you from our brand new Fall Collection... With All My Heart.

Today... there is LOVE in the air!
Welcome to our official Fall Collection Launch!

There is so much that we can learn from children.
Unconditional love.
Forgiveness.
Acceptance.
Wonderment.
Peacefulness.
And the list goes on. Children are continually absorbing lessons from their natural environment and exuding what the natural world has to offer. In fact, as Magda Gerber wrote "be careful what you teach. It might interfere with what they are learning." The glimmer in a young child's eyes reminds us of the fresh and untainted perspective that they have. Everything they see is new and filled with possibility. Children have an innate warmth towards others and love unconditionally. Even when faced with a disagreement they are, most often, quick to forgive and show warmth and affection. This, "With All My Heart" embraces these instinctive and open-hearted qualities of children. The primary colours and the peaceful symbols of this collection remind us of the primary values and traits, of which children remind us - love for all people and things.

The Healing Power of Trees

Carole's Tree
Today I was in such a funk!  A funk that even my cheerful Granddaughter could not get me out of and that is aserious funk when she can't cheer me up!  I had suffered what I felt was an unkindness by someone close to me followed by a slight snub.  I couldn't get myself out of my slump nor did I want to.  I held my hurt to my chest, embracing the heck out of it, not able to let it go.   My eyes were sort of glazed, my voice a monotone.  I was also angry at myself for letting this nonsense get to me yet again.
As I sat, firmly entrenched in my mood, my husband noticed our neighbours outside, digging a hole. There was a beautiful Japanese Maple tree standing nearby, waiting to be planted.  He decided to go out and see if he could help.  I stayed on the couch, sulking and feeling sad.  Soon, I heard laughter outside, and I glanced out, and saw a little crowd around the hole, shovels and wheelbarrows in hand, laughing and sweating, but chatting amiably as they worked.  Well, I thought, I guess I could just go out and see what's up.  Soon I was busy too, sifting dirt and raking soil.  An hour and a half later, the little tree was proudly situated in the hole. Our neighbors thanked us profusely for our help and we came inside.  It was then that I realized that my funk was gone.  I was no longer feeling sorry for myself.  I felt cheerful and optimistic.  I had badly needed to get outside of myself but didn't have the will to let go of my hurt and anger.  When I finally managed to let it all go, I felt so much better.  Now every time I see that beautiful tree outside my kitchen window, I will remember this lesson; Help out, do something nice for someone else, laugh and sweat and enjoy the company.  It will be good for you.
